Hypothetical example: suppose your blanket swatch estimate, border, and chosen allowance total 1,250 yards. If the exact skein label says 220 yards, 1,250 ÷ 220 ≈ 5.68, so round up to 6 whole skeins. You buy 6 × 220 = 1,320 yards; planned unused yardage is 1,320 − 1,250 = 70 yards. These are invented planning inputs, not a tested blanket recipe or a guaranteed leftover amount. For multiple colors, calculate and round each color separately.
Make a separate swatch for each different yarn using the intended stitch and tools, then wash and measure it as the project requires.
